GNM or General Nursing Midwifery is a Three years diploma course and is one of
the most recognized in the field of Nursing.
GNM diploma course is considered as a stepping stone towards making a career in
the Nursing field. Successful completion of a GNM diploma leads them to be
registered as an RNRM (Registered Nurse Registered Midwife) and are designated
as a Nurse to working with Government, private hospitals and clinics.
Future prospects for students also lies in pursuing higher education &
become eligible to pursue BSc Nursing (Post-Basic) programmes.

ELIGIBILITY
Age & Gender : Applicant’s age must be at least 17 (Seventeen) years as on
31.12.2024 i.e. the applicant should have been born on or before
31.12.2007. Maximum age: 35 years as on 31.12.2024. Only
female candidates are eligible.
Language : Candidates must be able to read, write and express
in Bengali and / or Nepali.
Minimum Educational Qualification : The candidate must pass
(10+2) examination from any recognized Board / Council in
regular class mode with at least 40% marks in aggregate and
passed marks in English. Candidates passing (10+2) in Vocational
Stream must be from Health Care Science. 'Passed' means
passed in both theory and practical as applicable.
Nationality & Residence : Candidate should be citizen of India.
West Bengal Residential / Domicile certificate is essential for
admission in GNM Nursing course. Candidate must be a
permanent resident of West Bengal uninterruptedly for at least
last ten years till 31.12 2023.
Fitness : All candidates must be medically fit for the course and
produce a Medical Fitness certificate.
Selection Process : Selection will be based on common entrance
examination titled ANM & GNM - 2024, by WBJEEB. No direct
